Update: keep on running, man!

So what’s been going on with the latest installment of the Running Man series? Here’s an update on that.

As you know, I’ve been putting out a short webcomic every year, updating daily during October. If you’re a Meteorite or up member, you might be wondering why I haven’t posted much about my progress on this year’s comic. To be transparent: it’s because I haven’t made much progress since the last posts about it.

The past few months have been busy due to conventions and preparation for them. I ended up spending a lot of time on creating and stocking merch, as well as making display elements like signage, handouts, and video slideshows of some of our comics.

I underestimated the amount of time the conventions would take, and thus they essentially ate all the time I thought I’d have for this comic so far. In addition, I’ve felt like I’ve really rushed the past years’ comics and could (and should) do a more polished job on future ones. And although I did work out many of the story kinks earlier, I also want to ensure this comic fits well into the larger story Running Man has turned into.

So what does this mean? This comic will happen – I certainly want to work on it. It may not happen in October this year, and I apologize for that, but I want to actually push my skills and make something excellent for this next one instead of rushing through it to meet the October schedule of past years. Future comics will hopefully be on track for October releases, just not this one.

I’m also debating moving all the comics to one section of the site as chapters of one story, since this comic has gone on longer than I imagined. Running Man was originally supposed to be its own story, but then my ideas got a little out of hand. Combining them all as chapters of one story would make life easier.

TL;DR: This year’s Running Man comic will happen. It will probably not happen in October like it has in the past. I want to take my time and do a good job. I might also combine the stories into chapters of a single story on the site. Con prep is time consuming. Thanks for your patience!
